Zacatecas

The capital city by the same name as the state is a delight to see, especially at night when the old colonial buildings lining the main streets are lit up by lights.

Travelers to the city of Zacatecas should plan a few days to not only explore the city but also to visit its many museums. Listed here are two of the more prominent ones.

The Rafael Coronel Museum houses over 10,000 ceremonial masks making it the largest of its kind in the world.

The Virreinal de Guadalupe Museum is housed in a beautiful former convent. Visitors will discover Mexican art dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Many of these beautiful painting reflect the history of Christianity.

Outdoor enthusiasts will like exploring the Sierra de Órganos National Park in the northern region of the state. Very interesting rock formations can be found there. They actually look like the pipes from an organ with some of them towering as high as 200 feet / 60 meters.

Zacatecas is also one of México’s central states where vineyards are located.
