Morelos
Here is something you might not know. In the more southern region of this state, gardeners will really enjoy visiting the world’s largest collection of outdoor floral gardens. Los Jardines de México is divided into several very different gardens, from Japanese to tropical to the very elegant Italian Renaissance garden.
For adventure seekers, the outdoor activites in and around Lake Tequesquitengo range from jet skiing to water skiing without a boat (it’s a pulley system), bungee jumping, hot air balloon ride, and flying with a pilot in a 2 seater motorized hang glider.
History and archaeology buffs will love exploring the impressive ancient city ruins of Xochicalco, Teopanzolco, and Tepozteco.
The capital city of Cuernavaca maintains an average temperature around 68 F (20 C). Because of this pleasant climate, this city has been dubbed, The City of Eternal Spring.
One of the oldest Spanish-built residences in the country was commissioned by Hernán Cortés in 1526. This palace is located in downtown Cuernavaca and is now the Morelos State Museum. There are exhibits of ancient artifacts, colonial history, and even murals painted by Diego Rivera.
A popular Pueblo Mágico is the town of Tepoztlán. Nestled in a valley with low hills in the distance, this quaint Magic Town is filled with many shops for browsing, small restaurants, health spa places, and small hotels. The weekends are usually overflowing with folks from México City since it is only a short drive away. For a more peaceful experience, skip the crowds and go visit this cute town on a weekday.
