Hidalgo

Hidalgo

This México state is unique in that in a certain region of the state, there is a British influence. Back in the early 1800s, some investors from London bought silver mines in Hidalgo and then hired miners and engineers from the region of Cornwell, England to come and work in the mines. These men brought over the game of football (soccer) to México as well as their tasty Cornish pasties. Today you can visit the mines and learn how these men worked in them as well as try some of these delicious baked pastries filled with beef, potatoes, onions, and turnips.

Visitors can also enjoy soaking in natural thermal spring waters, encounter old haciendas, hike in its mountains, and visit an interesting and very different kind of archaeological site called, Tula.
