Sinaloa

Sinaloa

The most notable city most travelers have heard of is the resort city of Mazatlán on the Pacific Ocean in the far southern region of Sinaloa.

With a row of nice hotels right on the beach, it’s the place to be, especially to watch the sun set each evening.

The state of Sinaloa is also the “jumping off” point for taking the car ferry west across the Sea of Cortés to the Baja California peninsula. Ferries leave from Mazatlán and to the north, near the city of Los Mochis.

The other “jumping off” point is to head east on the El Chepe train which travels through some beautiful canyonland areas in the state of Chihuahua. The two train stations in Sinaloa are located in the cities of Los Mochis and also El Fuerte.

Speaking of El Fuerte, for those of you old enough to remember, this pretty Pueblo Mágico is the birthplace of the real life El Zorro. His name was Diego de la Vega and he really did fight with a mask on to help the plight of the Mexican people who were living in what is now northern California.
