Jalisco
They call the state of Jalisco, La Tierra del Tequila. This state is home to the town of Tequila and several distilleries including Jose Cuervo. Aligned rows of agave fields can be seen from the roads around the town.
This state is also home to the 2nd largest city in the country; Guadalajara. An hour or so south will take visitors to Lake Chapala, the largest lake in the country. On the north side of the lake there are a couple of towns where you will find a huge community of foreigners living there. Many are from the USA and Canada.
South of the lake, visitors will encounter a region of forests and green lush valleys. Cabins for rent can be found here for an outdoor camping-type getaway.
In the northern rugged region of Jalisco there are small villages with communities from two different indigenous societies.
On Jalisco’s Pacific coast, vacationers can hang out in the popular touristy beachside resort city of Puerto Vallarta. In another area south of this city, travelers can find a few smaller beachside towns in what’s called, the Costa Alegre region.
